TLDR
Adobe launched its tools inside Google Gemini on 24 September 2026, letting users run Photoshop, Lightroom, Express and Firefly from inside the chat. The Claude plugin expanded to cover 80-plus tools across eight apps. Generating images via partner models costs 10 credits each, ten times the standard rate.
KEY TAKEAWAYS
What Adobe announced
Adobe dropped two integrations at once on 24 September 2026. The first is "Adobe in Gemini", which lets anyone with a Gemini account call on Photoshop, Lightroom, Express and Firefly tools without leaving the chat window. The integration is available globally across all Google Gemini plans from that date, excluding regions restricted by Adobe trade compliance.[1] Australia is included.
The second announcement expands Adobe's existing plugin for Anthropic's Claude. The updated plugin now covers more than 80 pro-grade tools across eight apps: Acrobat, Express, Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere, Lightroom, InDesign and Adobe Stock.[1] Acrobat and interactive editing were the major additions to what was already on offer.
Neal Pancholi, Google's Managing Director of Global Partnerships, said the deal puts professional creative tools in front of anyone who types a prompt. "We're excited to expand our partnership with Adobe and bring industry-leading creative tools directly into Gemini. Now, anyone can create, edit and bring their ideas to life right in the chat," Pancholi said.[1]
Why Adobe is doing this
Gemini crossed one billion monthly active users in August 2026[7], making it one of the fastest-growing chat platforms on record. Adobe is placing its tools where marketing teams already work, rather than asking them to open a separate app.
A 2026 OECD survey found that 70% of surveyed small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) already apply off-the-shelf AI to marketing tasks.[8] Adobe is meeting those users inside the interfaces they have already adopted.
Adobe telegraphed this direction in June 2026, when it said it was bringing Creative Cloud capabilities to ChatGPT, Claude, Microsoft Copilot, Gemini and Slack.[6] David Wadhwani, Adobe's President of Creativity and Productivity, described the goal at that June reveal: "Every creative now has an agent capable of helping them execute across every app and platform where they work so they can set the vision, apply their taste and make the calls that only they can," Wadhwani said.[6]
What it costs Australian subscribers
Standard generative AI features inside Creative Cloud cost one credit per generation.[4] Using Google's Gemini 2.5 Flash Image inside Adobe products costs 10 credits per generation, ten times that rate.[3]
Subscribers who burn through their included credits can buy top-up packs in increments of 2,000, 4,000, 7,000 or 50,000 credits via Adobe Firefly add-on plans.[5] Heavy users generating images via Gemini 2.5 Flash should account for that 10-to-1 ratio when estimating monthly costs.
