About
Who writes Prompt the Market, who owns and funds it, and how we report.
Prompt the Market is an Australian publication covering marketing, media, advertising, search and AI, and the money behind them. It launched in Sydney in September 2026 for marketers, agency and media leaders, founders and investors who spend or influence marketing budgets.
What we cover
We publish news every weekday, roughly every two to three hours between 6am and 8pm Sydney time. Its desks cover Marketing, Media, Advertising, AI, Technology, Brands, Agencies, Opinion, Research, Rankings and People & moves.
The Rankings desk includes The Index, with tables published with their source and method. The Index methodology sets out how those tables are built.
Who runs it
James Dore founded the publication and edits it. He is Strategy Director at Bushnote. Dore has worked for more than a decade in search and growth marketing, including as Marketing Manager, Consumer Products at MONEYME and at SocietyOne, and has written for the Australian Financial Review.
Xaviery Malinao, team lead of Bushnote’s delivery team, writes for the publication and covers brands and agencies. Contributor roles and backgrounds are on the authors page, including James Dore and Xaviery Malinao.
Ownership, funding and conflicts
The publication is owned and published by Bushnote, a Sydney strategy, SEO and AI search agency at Level 17, Angel Place, 123 Pitt Street, Sydney NSW 2000. It is funded by Bushnote and by advertising and sponsorship sold under terms on the Advertise page.
If a story concerns a Bushnote client, or a company Bushnote competes with, the article says so. When a ranking’s data source ranks Bushnote, it is listed and the order is not altered, with the source and method published with every table.
How we report
Every factual claim in a Prompt the Market article is sourced, and sources are listed at the foot of each article. Quotes come only from named, on-record sources, and the editorial standards set out the reporting rules.
AI tools are used in research, drafting and checking, and a named person is responsible for every piece. The approach to AI explains how those tools are used, and cover illustrations are made in-house and captioned “Illustration: Prompt the Market”.
Newsletter
The prompt is the publication’s weekday morning newsletter. It covers the five stories moving marketing, media and money.
