Privacy policy

Prompt the Market is published by Bushnote, Level 17, Angel Place, 123 Pitt Street, Sydney NSW 2000. This page explains what personal information we collect, why, and what you can do about it. We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). Last updated 29 September 2026.

What we collect

  • Account and newsletter details. When you subscribe or create an account we collect your email address and, if you give it, your name. We record which newsletters you receive and when you signed up.
  • Newsletter activity. Our email platform records whether a newsletter was opened and which links were clicked, so we can see which stories readers value.
  • Site usage. We record how the site is used: pages viewed, time on page, how far you read, the site or app that referred you, device and browser type, and approximate location (city or region, derived from your IP address).
  • Messages you send us. If you email us or submit a contribution, we keep the message and your contact details.

Analytics and cookies

We use two analytics tools. Ghost, our publishing platform, measures page views without using cookies. Google Analytics 4 uses cookies and similar identifiers to measure visits, engagement and the channels that bring readers to the site.

We have turned on Google signals in Google Analytics. For visitors who are signed in to a Google account and have allowed ads personalisation, this lets Google provide us with aggregated, anonymised reports on audience demographics (such as age range and interests) and on use across devices. We only ever see aggregated reports; we cannot identify individual Google users. You can control this in your Google account at My Ad Center, and see how Google uses data from sites that use its services at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites. You can stop Google Analytics collecting data about your visits with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on, or by blocking cookies in your browser.

We do not show third-party advertising on this site and we do not sell or rent personal information.

How we use it

  • To send the newsletters and account emails you ask for.
  • To understand which stories and topics readers find useful, and to improve the site.
  • To respond to your messages, corrections and contributions.
  • To keep the site secure and prevent abuse.

Who we share it with

We use service providers to run the site: Ghost (publishing, memberships and email), Google (analytics), and our email delivery and hosting providers. They process data on our behalf and some store it outside Australia, including in the United States and the European Union. We do not share your information with anyone else unless the law requires it.

Your choices

  • Unsubscribe from any newsletter with the link at the bottom of every email.
  • Update or delete your account from the account page, or by emailing us.
  • Ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to correct it.

Contact and complaints

Email contact@bushnote.com with any privacy question, request or complaint. We will reply within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with our response you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
