Nine pulled the old bulletin in January 2025

Nine axed 9News Darwin in January 2025, with the final bulletin airing on 21 January. Territory viewers got the Queensland edition of 9News instead, which left the ABC as the only local TV news service in the NT.[2]

Eleven full-time roles were affected at the time, with three redundancies, The Nightly reported.[2]

Nine then handed the station to WIN. On 2 June 2026 Nine said it had completed converting Nine Darwin from a wholly owned business to an affiliate owned and operated by WIN, for $0.5 million in cash, after approvals including the ACCC's.[3]

Darwin will join the 23 bulletins WIN already produces across regional Australia, including three capital cities.[1]
