Two awards for an ad its maker says AI built

A Melbourne-founded AI advertising platform has picked up two awards at the ARF David Ogilvy Awards in New York, where the Advertising Research Foundation judges campaigns on how research shaped them. BrandComms.AI's 'Seat at the Table' for realtor.com won Silver for Best Use of Emerging Technology and Bronze in the Electronics & Technology category on 14 October, US time.[1] The ARF's finalist list names the entry for Realtor.com with BrandComms.AI as the entrant.[3]

Mediaweek and BrandComms.AI describe it as a fully AI-made ad.[1] It was up against campaigns including Microsoft 365 Copilot and Uber Eats' work with Matthew McConaughey.[1] Microsoft's M365 with Copilot campaign took Gold in Best Use of Emerging Technology, and the night's top prize, the Grand Ogilvy, went to Fairlife and Doner for 'Core Power'.[4]

What the numbers say

BrandComms.AI says the campaign was tested with 800 US home sellers, scoring 88% brand linkage with realtor.com, a 14% uplift in First Choice and a 9% uplift in trust in a high-stakes financial decision.[1] It says all 47 assets, across streaming TV, social, radio, digital and print, were produced in weeks at a fraction of normal production cost.[1]

Move Inc., which runs realtor.com, reported 10% revenue growth led by its seller business and a 6% rise in leads, according to the same report.[1] The figures are the company's own; the ARF's case study sits behind a member login.

Humans found the insight, the AI built the work

The way realtor.com describes the process, people still did the thinking. Its strategists found the insight in customer research, that sellers have a "massive fear of screwing up" when marketing a home and choosing an agent, and then uploaded research, interview transcripts and past creative so BrandComms.AI could build an audience model, concepts and a full draft for the team to approve.[2] Neil Golson, realtor.com's VP of brand and creative, said the partnership helps it "do more, faster".[2]

Chief executive Sheona Richard put it another way: "The future of advertising isn't about making more content, faster."[1]

The Australian connection

BrandComms.AI was founded in Australia in 2024, spun out of insights consultancy Forethought and its 30 years of proprietary data, and launched in the US in March.[2] Within seven months it has a research-judged award for a major American brand. For Australian agencies and production companies that price their work on weeks of craft, that is the part to read twice.
