Bean was executive director of Ad Standards from 2020 to 2024, deputy chair of the ACMA from 2010 to 2016 and its acting chair in 2016 and 2017, and earlier chief executive of the NSW Environment Protection Authority, network legal counsel at Network Ten and general counsel of Unwired Group.
